On Friday 15th June, 82 cyclists took to the roads of South Tipperary and West Waterford in what was the 6th Annual Jones Engineering Charity Fundraising Cycle. This year the funds were raised in support of The Brothers of Charity Services Ireland and CanTeen Ireland.

With cycling legend Sean Kelly leading out the peloton, 52 cyclists undertook a 100km challenge, leaving the Minella Hotel in Clonmel heading towards Clogheen and ascending the beautiful rhododendron lined Vee through the Knockmealdown Mountains.

After regrouping on top they descended into Lismore, Cappoquin and began climbing again on the lower slopes of the Comeragh Mountains as they headed towards the Nire Valley. The final challenge of the day awaited with a sharp 6km climb to the summit, but this was quickly forgotten as the finish line could be seen and enjoyed with 10kms downhill to the … Read More »

Transition year is a time when students are considering the options available to them in the future. We feel it is important that students get information about the correct subjects to take for the leaving certificate, particularly if their intention is to take up an E&I Apprenticeship. Our Site Manager, Paul Walsh decided the best way to do this was to arrange a site visit so he invited the Transition Year students from Colaiste An Chroi Naofa in Cork to an event on site in Pfizer Little Island Loughmahon.

The day began with the issue of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by Paul and day passes from Pfizer at security; safety first! Once everyone was kitted out they were brought to our onsite O’Sheas Electrical Instrument Calibration workshop where the Lead Technician onsite, Billy O’Brien gave the students a demonstration on how the instruments work.  They … Read More »

We’re proud to have worked on Microsoft’s new €134m campus in Dublin, One Microsoft Place.

“The building itself has 3,000 seats spread across open-plan floors and smaller private areas where meetings or phone calls can be conducted. Designed by RKD Architects and Gensler, with BAM as the lead contractor working with Jones Engineering, the building bears a lot of Dublin’s influence, such as through the digital lake and “mountain” representing the bay and hills that border the building. But each area is decorated differently, intended to reflect the 71 nationalities that are working in the Dublin office.”

Check out this great article in the Irish Times.

Have a look at this video to see the impressive office.

We are delighted to announce that we have achieved Building Information Modelling (BIM) Level 2 Certification for Design and Construction from BSI (British Standards Institution).

To achieve verification certification, we completed the BIM Level 2 audit process working closely with BSI. The audit examined in detail our BIM processes, procedures and management systems to verify compliance with PAS 1192-2:2013, BS 1192:2007 and BS 1192-4:2014. The award of the certification coincides with the recent publication of “Roadmap to Digital Transition for Ireland’s Construction Industry” developed by the National BIM Council of Ireland which defines a four year adoption of digital technologies across the Public Sector.

Having been early adopters of BIM, we have sought to remain at the forefront of the construction industry, developing BIM practices from what was initially considered an optional “construction aid” to become the framework of our business model incorporated … Read More »

Following a competitive tender process, Jones Celtic BioEnergy (JCBE) was awarded a contract to design, build and commission a bio-waste anaerobic digestion (AD) facility in February 2017 for Severn Trent Green Power. The AD facility will be located adjacent to the Severn Trent Water sewage works at Spondon in Derby.

The facility is designed to process 48,500 tonnes per annum of bio-waste sourced in the vicinity of Derby including food waste. This will result in a significant contribution to the diversion of this resource from landfill while harnessing the inherent renewable energy potential that would otherwise be lost. The bio-waste will be supplemented with sustainable biomass, i.e. the plant will not process any conventional energy crops. The facility includes a thermo-pressure hydrolysis (TPH) pre-treatment process for the incoming waste to allow for high efficiency performance of the subsequent AD process.  Pre-treated … Read More »
