'Natalie Cassidy opened her arms and called me her daughter': EastEnders' Jasmine Armfield recalls meeting her on-screen mum... as she admits she was sick SEVEN times on the way to her audition

She is best known for her role in EastEnders as Bex Fowler - the daughter of Sonia Jackson (Natalie Cassidy).
But Jasmine Armfield, 18, explained their close relationship isn't just on-screen as she has developed a mother-daughter bond with the soap star.
Recalling the first moment she met Natalie in an interview with OK! magazine, the young actress revealed they became friends instantaneously.

She told the magazine: 'When we first met she opened her arms and said: "My daughter!"
'She gave me her number and told me I could call her any time.’
No doubt the soap star welcomed the motherly friendship after she felt her nerves kicking in for her second audition for the part.

Jasmine confessed she was sick seven times as she made her journey to meet the casting director of the soap.
‘On the day of my second audition I was really ill,' she reminisced.
'I was sick seven times before I got there. On the way to meet the casting director I had to sit in the back of the car with a bucket!’

The Essex native discussed the surreal moment she was cherry picked to play Sonia's daughter Bex.
Describing hearing the news, she added: ‘When I was first told I was going to be playing Natalie Cassidy’s daughter, I couldn’t believe it.
'I’ve watched Natalie on screen my whole life – my mum remembers when Sonia Jackson gave birth to Bex!’

In recent weeks her on-screen alias has been a victim of relentless campaign of bullying.
Heart-wrenching scenes last month saw Bex confronted by bullies Madison, Alexandra and Louise in her bedroom where they smashed her beloved guitar.
While Jasmine has previously described filming the scenes as 'terrifying', she has welcomed many positive responses from fans about the highly sensitive storyline.
