Laura Josephine (Blanke) Rouse, born May 18, 1922, passed away peacefully in Lodi on April 17, 2018 at the age of 95. Born and raised in Lodi, she graduated from Lodi High School in 1941 where she met and later married James C. Rouse. After his service in the U.S. Navy during WWII, they moved to Stockton.
Laura was a homemaker who also worked seasonally in the fruit and walnut industries. After her husband's death in 1992, she became a S.T.A.R.S. volunteer (Sheriff's Team of Active Retired Seniors) and moved to The Pines where she enjoyed many friendships and activities. She was a member of the AHSGR Lodi Chapter.
She was dedicated to her family and always looked forward to abalone trips on the north coast, fishing and boating on the Delta and at Pinecrest Lake. Laura was active in her daughters' school PTA, Girl Scout troops, and Jobs Daughter's Bethel 201 Mothers Club. She enjoyed family gatherings and reunions, pinochle games, and attending her grandchildren's sporting activities, 4H events and dance recitals.
Preceded in death by her husband James, her parents David and Paulina (Baumbach) Blanke, brothers Dr. Robert Blanke (Betty) and Joseph Blanke (Hilda) and sister Clara Allen (Donald). She will be forever missed by her daughters Darba Schlepp, Doreen Murray (Michael), Diana Russell, and Donna Lester (George); grandchildren Kent Murray (Diane), Mark Murray (Adriana) and Hillary Lester; two great-grandsons Logan and Bennett Murray. Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will be private with a memorial service to be held at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to Gospel Rescue Mission, Delta Humane Society or the .
